Hi! I’m Katharina and, occasionally, I somewhat humorously introduce myself as “someone who makes things”.

I’ve worked in many different mediums over the years (art videos, painting, fronting a rock band, producing solo music, etc) but the common denominator has always been creativity and creating, often with a strong sense of play as I go about the process.

These days, I usually introduce myself as an artist and musician.

My artistry currently has a strong woodworking focus, ever since I fell in love with the old technique of wood carving (träbildhuggeri) during a course at Sätergläntan in Dalarna.
In my wood relief carvings, woodcrafting meets playful designs and bold color choices. The juxtaposition of traditional techniques with more modern motifs excites me, and I draw a lot of inspiration from folk art and outsider art.

I’m also an electronic musician, and these days I primarily compose music for theatre productions. My work is often a blend of electronic soundscapes merged with organic sound samples that I alter and tinker with until they are to my liking.

I was born and raised in Sweden, in the Stockholm area, and also lived a stint in London as a child. I moved solo to the US as an 18-year-old and ended up living in New York and then Los Angeles, and Ojai for a bit, for 16 years before returning to Sweden in 2021. I now live in Gustavsberg, just outside of Stockholm.

I have a studio/ateljé @wipsthlm in Västberga where I have everything I need to explore and realize ideas of all kinds.

Stop by for a studio visit sometime!
